LWS Night Shelter is a not-for-profit organisation set up to provide food, shelter, and company for homeless and vulnerably housed people in Leamington Spa and the surrounding area.
Run entirely by volunteers, we are open each week on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30pm to 10am. We serve dinner and breakfast, as well as providing a safe, warm place for our guests to spend the night.
LWS Night Shelter is more than just a roof over the heads of our guests. It is a place where they can feel safe, and be treated with dignity and respect. We aim to foster a sense of community that welcomes people from all walks of life.
Leamington Winter Support was set up by students at the University of Warwick, to provide the service during Winter 2015/2016. We are very fortunate to have the use of the old Priors Club thanks to Tara and Co Estate Agents. Students and locals worked together on all the preparations for our opening night on Friday 22nd January 2016. Since then, we have learned a lot from everyone that has been involved, including our guests. Thanks to continued support from students and the local community we have been able to remain open throughout the year (re-branding to 'LWS Night Shelter'), and are preparing for our third winter.
As well as our weekly service, we organise fundraising events, and are always in search of new ways to connect with the local community.
We owe our success to every single person that has helped us in any way over the past year, and we look forward to continuing the service for as long as possible.
